Build a Career in the Courtroom

Touma Law Group is a veteran-owned criminal defense firm with offices in Greenville, Columbia, Anderson, and Beaufort. We defend people on the worst day of their lives, and we hire people who take that seriously.

Working With Us

We are small enough that your work matters on day one and busy enough that there is always something real to work on.

  • Courtroom time from the start

Our attorneys are in court most weeks, and everyone who works here goes with them. You learn criminal defense by watching bond hearings and trials, not by reading about them.

  • Small firm, real responsibility

There is no layer of associates between you and the person whose case you are working on. Your research gets used. Your questions get answered by the attorney arguing the motion.

  • Veteran-owned and veteran-minded

Several of our attorneys served, including a combat deployment to Fallujah. That shows up in how we prepare, how we back each other, and how seriously we take a client who is counting on us.

  • Four offices, one team

Greenville, Columbia, Anderson, and Beaufort work the same cases together. You will know the whole firm, not just your floor.

What You Get Here

The point of working at a firm this size is access. You are in the room where the case gets decided.

  • Direct mentorship from attorneys who try cases, including former prosecutors
  • Hands-on work on live criminal and DUI matters from your first week
  • Court observation at magistrate, General Sessions, and federal levels
  • Flexible scheduling around class and exam calendars
  • Academic credit coordination with your school, where your program allows it
  • A written reference and reviewer feedback at the end of every internship term

We confirm your hours, your supervising attorney, and your first court date to sit in on.

Questions Candidates Ask

Do you hire interns at every office?

Yes. The legal internship is open at all four offices: Greenville, Columbia, Anderson, and Beaufort. Tell us which one you want on the application and we will match you with an attorney there.

Do I have to be in law school to intern here?

No. We take law students at every stage, and we also take undergraduates in pre-law and criminal justice programs. What matters more is that you can write clearly and handle confidential material responsibly.

Can I get academic credit for the internship?

In most cases, yes. We have worked with school credit requirements before and will complete the paperwork and evaluations your program asks for. Bring us the requirements early in the term so nothing gets missed.

When should I apply?

We review applications on a rolling basis and place interns for the fall, spring, and summer terms. Applying six to eight weeks before the term starts gives you the best shot at your preferred office.

What if there is no opening that fits me?

Apply anyway and choose General Application. We keep resumes on file and reach out first to people already in that file when a paralegal, legal assistant, or associate role opens up.

Equal Opportunity

Touma Law Group is an equal opportunity employer. We consider every applicant without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal or South Carolina law. If you need an accommodation at any point in the hiring process, tell us in your application and we will arrange it.
