As someone who has been school oriented most of my life, taking as many college classes as I could starting from the age of fifteen every semester and every summer then attending Clemson University at the age of 18, I decided to take a semester off of school for once to gain real-world experience.
I am now an intern at Touma Law Group where I have the privilege of working hands-on with clients and a team that is accomplished in a field that I am most passionate about. As an Arab-Muslim in America, I have grown up to be passionate about our justice system, the psychology behind it, and the people it affects.
At Touma Law Group I learn about how I can actually make a real impact one day in helping those whose voice has been silenced by the crippling lack of justice when they do not have the right people advocating for them. Although my role as an intern does not carry the weight of heavy responsibility, I believe the opportunity this internship has provided me with does.
Being hands-on in an experience that gives everyone the right to a fair fight is most important to not only my future but the future of the clients I will one day have the privilege of advocating for myself. I am a firm believer that everyone deserves a second chance, as everyone comes from different backgrounds battling their own challenges.
I am the youngest of seven siblings whom I have seen all take different routes in life and it is nothing short of inspiring to witness how much one can grow when they have a support system, that is the role I hope to play in our clients lives, another set of eyes for details on their case and life story too important to go unnoticed, another set of ears ready to listen to their story, and another voice ready to advocate in their cause–an individual who cares to complete their support system.
